RaySearch Laboratories AB (publ) is pleased to announce that Wielkopolskie Centrum Onkologii – Greater Poland Cancer Center (WCO) has expanded its partnership with RaySearch through a new order of the RayStation®* treatment planning system. The order will enable advanced cancer care with proton therapy at WCO’s growing facility, supporting the center’s long-term strategy to offer a broad range of radiotherapy techniques and personalized care for every patient.
Historically, WCO has focused on photon-based radiotherapy and today operates one of Poland’s most advanced clinics, equipped with two CyberKnife units, a TomoTherapy system, and several linear accelerators. The center has been a RayStation customer for three years, primarily for research and fallback planning. The new order significantly expands RayStation licenses to cover proton planning while connecting photon and proton workflows in a unified system, allowing the center to plan all treatment techniques within a single platform. This integration streamlines workflows, improves efficiency, enables seamless comparison of treatment techniques, and ensures delivery of highly effective, personalized treatments.
Installation is ongoing, with first patient treatments expected by the end of 2026.
Prof. Tomasz Piotrowski, Head of Medical Physics, WCO:
"Adding proton therapy allows us to expand access to advanced, patient-centered treatments across multiple cancer indications. Choosing RayStation was a natural decision, as it enables seamless planning for protons alongside our conventional linear accelerators and specialized technologies such as CyberKnife and TomoTherapy. Integrating RayStation streamlines workflows across the entire facility, enabling efficient comparison of treatment techniques and empowering our team to deliver the best possible therapy to every patient.
Johan Löf, founder and CEO of RaySearch:
"It's very positive that WCO is now also using RayStation for proton therapy. It confirms both our global leadership in proton treatment planning and the system’s flexibility across multiple radiotherapy techniques, enabling high-quality, future-proof cancer care."
