Axim Nuclear & Oncology to supply RaySearch systems to South African radiotherapy market

RaySearch Laboratories AB (publ) shares news that Axim Nuclear & Oncology will be supplying treatment planning system RayStation®* to the radiotherapy market in South Africa.

Axim Nuclear & Oncology specializes in the sales and applications of nuclear medicine and radiation oncology products. The company currently supplies linear accelerators from Accuray, surface guided radiation therapy equipment from Vision RT, laser positioning equipment from LAP, medical physics QA from the Sun Nuclear Corporation and brachytherapy solutions from Xoft, a subsidiary of iCAD, Inc.

The South African market for treatment planning software is roughly split into privately-owned oncology practices as well as government-run oncology centers. The installed linear accelerator (LINAC) base of more than 80 linear accelerators are predominantly from Elekta and Varian.

Johan Löf, founder and CEO, RaySearch, says: “As with any market expansion, reaching the South African market with our advanced treatment planning system RayStation is a milestone and a cause for optimism. Together with new distributor agreements in North Africa and South America, RaySearch software is becoming available to many more medical professionals each year.”
