Strong finish of the year with multiple RayStation orders

RaySearch Laboratories AB has received seven orders for its RayStation® treatment planning system in December from clinics in Belgium, Germany, New Zealand and USA.

The German order comes from Universitätsklinikum Essen in Essen and the order in Belgium comes from The Europe Hospitals in Brussels which is the first RayStation® customer in Belgium. Europe Hospitals will initially use RayStation® for treatment planning of rotational therapy with Siemens linear accelerators.

“The Brussels Europe Hospitals make up the largest group of private clinics in Brussels. Our new radiation oncology department continuously invests in the latest technology with a clear long term vision. The next step is to clinically implement rotational IMRT and RayStation® clearly stands out as the best treatment planning option on the market for this new exciting technique. RayStation® has a modern workflow and is based on state-of-the-art algorithms so we are looking forward to start using the system clinically”, says Dr. Carl Salembier, Head of the Radiation Oncology department at Europe Hospitals St-Elisabeth.

RaySearch has also received the first order from New Zealand. The private radiation therapy facility Auckland Radiation Oncology in Auckland has ordered RayStation® as a replacement for the clinic’s existing treatment planning system and will use it for all forms of radiation therapy from conventional 3D-CRT to more advanced techniques such as VMAT and adaptive radiation therapy.

In the US, RaySearch has received four RayStation® orders from Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio; California Cancer Center in Fresno, California; XRAD Services in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Littleton Radiation Oncology Center in Denver, Colorado. The clinics will use RayStation® for all sorts of radiation treatments using advanced tools such as Multi-Criteria Optimization, a new paradigm in IMRT planning and Dose Tracking which enables treatment adaptation.

David Schreiber, MD, is the CEO and Medical Director of The Littleton Radiation Oncology Center which is an independent cancer treatment facility that provides a blend of leading-edge technology and individual attention. Dr. Schreiber comments: “The purchase of this new and unique treatment planning system will allow Littleton Radiation Oncology to be the first and only radiation oncology facility in the state of Colorado to offer 4D treatment planning, which will allow us to provide enhanced IMRT delivery, a process by which treatments can be customized in real time each day. This will translate into an even lower dose of radiation to the surrounding normal tissues, which should in turn translate into a much lower risk of side effects.”

Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch Laboratories AB adds: “We strongly believe that RayStation® is the leading treatment planning system on the market today and we are thrilled to see that an increasing number of customers are joining us. So far during the fourth quarter of 2012, we have received RayStation® orders with an accumulated order value of more than SEK 50 M and, in addition, we have negotiations going on with numerous other clinics. All of these systems will not be delivered and invoiced during the fourth quarter, but the revenues from RayStation® will still be the highest that we have ever recorded for one quarter.”
