Together, we are shaping the future of oncology software with the ultimate goal to improve patient outcomes and clinical efficiency. Learn more about these clinical partnerships and experiences below.

First to use RayCare clinically

Iridium Kankernetwerk, in the Antwerp region, is the largest radiation oncology department in Belgium with its annual 5300 patients. Iridium was first to use the RayCare oncology information system (OIS) clinically. Iridium has seen tremendous improvement since the implementation of RayCare in the department.  “Our core mission is to contribute to an innovating radiotherapy center for integrated care. RayCare is essential to that mission, since this new OIS is designed to provide comprehensive cancer care in an extremely safe and efficient way, while fully involving patients in their treatment. The collaboration between RaySearch, Iridium and other hospitals throughout the world in developing this system has resulted in an OIS that is highly customizable. RayCare was tailored to our specific needs right from the start.”

MD, PhD, radiation oncologist at Iridium Cancer Network, Belgium

RayCare in action at Provision

Provision CARES Proton Therapy in Nashville, USA became the first clinic to connect the oncology information system RayCare* directly to the treatment delivery system, using it to record and verify the treatment sessions. Princess Margaret Cancer Centre – University Health Network in Toronto, Canada, is one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world and the largest radiation treatment center in Canada. In July 2018, RaySearch and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre joined forces in a strategic partnership to further develop RayCare®. The implementation of RayCare at the center will follow a phased approach over several years. In each phase, capabilities will be added in RayCare and existing systems replaced. Ultimately, all activities in the oncology space will be coordinated through RayCare.

“We have a strong focus on comprehensive cancer care at the Princess Margaret and uniting the different clinical disciplines is a key priority. RayCare will enable us to achieve this. It will also provide us with an integrated cancer informatics platform that builds on the significant advances we have made in this area. This is a collaboration that will shape the future of oncology systems.”

Mary Gospodarowicz

Medical Director at Princess Margaret Hospital

UMCG is the first hospital in the Netherlands that can provide proton radiation therapy in addition to current advanced photon irradiation techniques. The new proton center is equipped with IBA’s Proteus®PLUS two-gantry room configuration, including pencil beam scanning and cone beam CT capabilities. UMCG anticipates the center will treat around 600 patients per year. UMCG was the first to join the RayCare partnership and has helped to lay the foundations of RayCare

“One of the strengths of RaySearch is their ability to think outside the box and come up with innovative ideas that have great value for radiation therapy practice. I have heard radiation oncologists say ‘this is too good to be true!’ when new versions of RayCare were presented. RaySearch listens carefully to our wishes and acts as a true partner in realizing our dream of becoming the most efficient radiation therapy department, providing the highest quality of care.”

Hans Langendijk
Chair Of The Department Of Radiation Oncology, University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands

Another RayCare partner is the Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. RayCare will be part of the department’s strong ultidisciplinary approach to cancer care and its focus on cutting-edge techniques. The university, which has long tradition of radiation therapy treatment, has recently selected RayStation as its treatment planning system and has already completed clinical implementation.
